Correct me if I'm mistaken, but the laser etch deals with svg files as paths for the laser to track yes? If that is indeed the case, then Inkscape may be the better FOSS application. Since Inkscape is vector based, resizing doesn't add artifacts to the file. link to app is inkscape.org

Does anybody use GIMP to help convert images for laser etching wood? I'm having trouble making my companies logo background etch with any detail. I can either get a dark black background or something that half looks like it should but with no detail. I'm fairly new to gimp so anybody with any knowledge using this with laser systems would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I never use this but I know the few septs to prepare the image for laser etching, First choose a high-quality image, Then crop it perfectly after that remove the background and then convert the image into grayscale, edit your photo add colour index sharpen it and export it.
