how can I close the main window on gimp 2.5.1?

Hi list.

on gimp 2.5.x, the main window(?) is added. so we can see three default window when we start gimp. however, I can't understand why the main window exists. and I want to close it without exiting gimp.(generally when I close the main window, then gimp is closed.)

how can I do? and why the developers make the window?

Hello HiHui

The spec [1] should answer your questions. If not, feel free to let us know.

The overall goals of this change was: 1. get the menubar out of the toolbox; 2. keep the application instance alive by always having a window with a menubar open, even when no image is open.

You can read the complete "No image open specification" here: http://gui.gimp.org/index.php/No_image_open_specification
