Hello!
Hey,
i found this picture online and i'm trying to get the style as the picture has. I know that the font is Broken Detroit but i don't know how to get the texture of the text. can you even do it in gimp?
And i also don't know how to get the shadow in the background, and the vignette that are coming from the sides of the image, can anybody help me out?

Not exact but maybe something like this
1. Create your text layer, use the on-canvas option to set the colors.
2. Text to Path. Stroke the path (1 pix ) on a new layer
2. Maybe optional but I bump-mapped the text using itself as the map.
3. On the text layer, Drop shadow using Filters -> Light and Shadow -> Drop Shadow (about 75% opacity)
4. (Text) Path to selection and apply a black to transparent gradient bi-linear shape, start in the center and out to the edge.

You need more texture? Try filling a selection of the text with a pattern as an overlay then adding to the text in a layer mode (try value mode).
Then again maybe some bump mapping, this time the overlay layer
Attached a correct example this time, a Gimp xcfgz with all the layers. Sorry for the last duplicated error.
There will be other ways but for a texture generally you need some bump mapping.

Thank you so much! Though i found a way to give it some rough texture and such after some trail and error this is how the W
looks i decided to make all the text red.
