Have you tried opening file explorer, right clicking on a jpg file and changing the default file associations using "open with?"

I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro with GIMP 2.8.18.

Every time I launch GIMP, it automatically associates itself with JPEG.

If I

open IrfanView and change the association there. The association is good

the next time I open GIMP. Then, JPEG is associated with GIMP again.

I have checked preferences but found nothing about file association.

How to stop GIMP from automatically associating itself with JEPG? Any

help will

be greatly appreciated.

Hello Alexandre:

You have two places to "reset"defaults in the Default Dialogs image (attached), plus an "OK" button(?).

Will clicking on either of those two buttons do the same thing, i.e. RESET the Dialog Defaults to the NEW, user-chosen settings? Or, will those buttons RESTORE the ORIGINAL "factory" defaults? Or, will the TOP button RESTORE the original "factory" settings and the BOTTOM button RESET the settings to the user's current choices? Or, will clicking one of those buttons GO BACK to the PREVIOUS settings that
the user had been using (but not the original "Factory" settings)? What is the difference between "RESET" and "OK"? Should the "OK" button be renamed "SAVE" (or "SAVE SETTINGS")?

Sorry to be pedantic but the circular arrow can mean many things these days.
A Tool Tip balloon might help understanding if the words can't be changed. {:>(

Regards,
Rick Strong

Thanks for re-posting.

I am now able to login to bugzilla, but I am not clear what caused the issue. Perhaps, I should file a bug report about Bugzilla!

Thanks again.

I don't think I've ever tried emailing replied to bug notifications, but not surprised that doesn't work otherwise they'd probably get filled with spam. You should be able to log in at <https://bugzilla.gnome. org/>
though, using the same username and password as when you reported that bug. Did you get any errors when you tried doing that?

I've added your comments to the bug, but can't help much more than that since I don't use a Mac or Safari.

Mark.
