"Thanks" for investing my PC with the Trojan TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen that came with todays download of GIMP.

Looks like I'll be having an annoyingly long night getting rid of that thing again. *aaaaargh*

Sorry to hear about that!

However we do not distribute malware, so there's either a false positive for GIMP, or you downloaded the installer from somewhere but gimp.org. Could you please be more specific here?

According to web searches, that one is a common false positive for some virus scanners, Avira seems to be plagued by this in regular intervals, for example.

Guess the only thing to say is you are welcome as you declined to do any research and undoubtedly downloaded from a "non-official" site, and did not ready anything about the download on this/these lists or you would have known better.

Now you know and should be wiser in the future.
