Hi MrsWilson,

are you using GIMP 2.8.10 from the GIMP download page? Can you please describe the steps to reproduce it, i.e. what you did last before it crashed?
What is the exact error message?

Kind regards,

Sven

1. Click on start, in the start search menu type "run" without quotes. 2. With the Run dialog open type in "%TMP%" and press enter (without quotes).
3. You should now be in the folder Partha described and there should be a file called __gimp-2.8-run.log.

This means that you don't have enough RAM to run Gimp. It's not able to allocated enough memory to run Gimp

CRASHING!!

If your computer is upgradeable, I would recommend getting at least 4GB RAM.

If virtual memory is enabled (and it should be, by default) you don't get this because you are short of RAM (especially on startup, my Gimp 32bit Windows is around 48MB when started, and my 64-bit Linux is ar 68MB). This could be a different problem (address space exhaustion?).

To MrsWilson; are there other programs running when you run Gimp (Internet navigator, word processing, etc...)?

With all due respect to Partha's builds, maybe the standard builds should be tried here?
