Which version of gimp are you using? What OS?

Normally just drag a corner of the dialog.

You probably can't, if the current width is the minimum width - which is likely determined by the entries for palette name and number of columns below the editor.

GIMP 2.8, Ubuntu

I can decrease the width of the Palette Editor window to a certain extent but no further, how do I decrease it further?
