how to get middle path of text

For example, I have text like this: [image: Screenshot.png]
"Text to path" would give me this:
[image: Screenshot-1.png]
But what i want is this:
[image: Screenshot-2.png]

How can i do that automaticaly, google don't help me with that. Thanks.

this might or might not help:
"morphological thinning" springs to mind, as explained e.g. here: http://homepages.inf.ed.ac.uk/rbf/HIPR2/thin.htm
