White color when deleting

I downloaded the last version of GIMP and started to use it. But I have a big problem.
When I use the deletion tool, it doesn't delete to transparent but to white. I don't know why.
It doesn't happen only with the background picture. Also with any other layer.

Does anybody know a solution?

Hi,
Most probably you don't have an alpha channel on that layer. To add an alpha channel, right-click on the layer name in the Layers Dialog and choose Add alpha channel.

Wow!
You are right!
Thank you so much!

By the way.... I guess you are from Hungary. I'm listening to Hungarian music just now. :)
