adjusting colour in PDFs

i'm using Ubuntu 9.10.

I have severalo PDFs of old books, in which the pages have turned yellow.

I know how to adjust that yellow in individual pictures. Is there some way of adjusting it across a total pdf file?

I could take the files apart (pdftoppm) and do each individual picture, a pain when the numbers get up to 500+, and I've had trouble getting the pdfs back, together again. Besides that, when I do, I lose the ability to search them.

Any help would be appreciated.
