Gimp-user Digest, Vol 83, Issue 14

thanks for such a fast response. I am not sure I know how to install anything other than what they guide me to on the Gimp page or cnet. Can you please explain?

First question to ask is if whether or not you are using the installers for 32 or 64 bit Windows. I am running Gimp 2.6.6 for Windows on 64 bit XP SP3, without any difficulty, though it appears I may have intstalled using the 32 bit version.

Just guessing what you are trying to do, but I would;

Open the required image
Select all
Copy

Then move to your 300dpi image and paste (as a new layer would
probably be best)

I hope you don't change GIMP too much.  I'm just getting used to the way it works now.

I've never used PS so I don't care how PS does things.

David Gowers wrote:

This is certainly true; all of your points are true. This is being worked on.
However, the specific idea of 'effect layers' is regarded as severely broken (basically cause it makes nonsense of the whole layers concept: all layers have content, but oh! effect layers don't. all layers have blending mode, but oops! effect layers don't. it's user-unfriendly in this marked inconsistency.)
The implementation I believe we are currently aiming for is instead oriented around the idea of being able to attach any number of effects to a given layer group (btw, martin nordholts is doing some great work on layer trees presently and in the last few months.. they are shaping up well.)

Hi,

The only thing you can do at the moment is go back one version to 2.6.5. It's the same apart from some bug fixes but is less buggy on windows. Make sure you do a clean uninstall before you install 2.6.5. You can find 2.6.5 on filehippo.com

Gimp-user Digest, Vol 83, Issue 16

Hi,

your two mails did both include the full mailing-list digest as a quote. That is not OK.

If you absolutely have to use the mailing-list digest, could you pretty please not reply to the digest mails. If you insist on replying to the digest mail, then please set a reasonable subject and remove all but the relevant parts from your quotes.

Thanks for following the rules outlined at http://gimp.org/mail_lists.html

Subject: [Gimp-user] Multi-page TIFF

I want to know, How I can create multi-page TIFF file.

If you're using Microsoft Office on Microsoft Windows then "Microsoft Document Imaging" is a package component that installs with Office and that you can use to create multi-page TIFF files. For example, if you scan a multi-page document using a scanner with a sheet-feeder then the scan will result in a multi-page TIFF file. In addition, you can create multi-page TIFF files yourself using MDI - just create a new TIFF file and add new pages using the menu/toolbar options. If you don't see "Microsoft Document Imaging" in your Windows menu then, very likely, you have not installed this component. In that case, install Office completely and you'll be able to do what you want.

I have never explored The Gimp for this purpose.
