I have a PPT file containing graphic (an object) in vector format. I

Is there a way to do that?
Your best bet is to get the graphic out of PPT and into a vector
format (like SVG). You did not mention what OS you're using, but I
can think of some general approaches:
1. Copy/paste the graphic into Inkscape (or another vector editor -
maybe Scribus?) and save as SVG, and then open in GIMP.
2. Print to file (or a PDF printer) from PTT, and open the file in
GIMP. The margins might be a little bit of a pain with this method.
3. If those don't work, try to copy/paste (or maybe just open) into
OpenOffice, export to PDF, then open the PDF in GIMP. The margins
still may be an issue.
It's getting late, but if you're stuck you can send me the PPT
off-list and I will try to figure out a conversion method tomorrow.
If you do, let me know what OS you're using and what graphic programs
you have.
