Wacom support in GIMP RC3

Hi;

I'm using the GIMP 2.4 RC3 in the new ubuntu linux (7.10). I can use my tablet Graphire4, but it doesn't show in the extended devices for Gimp. Is that a Problem in RC3, or a problem of the compilation of Ubuntu?

Sorry if that is a stupid question (I made a search in web and find out that others have the same problem). But I really need GIMP 2.4 working if Tablets. If not, I will need to go back to 2.2.

Thanks.

Did you plug your tablet into USB before launching GNOME/KDE/XFCE or after? That makes a huge difference. Please note also that right now once you start drawing with a stylus, you can not use USB mouse anymore for anything but clicking.

If Ubuntu compiles GTK+ without XInput support, that would explain your problem. But there are other possibilities. Have you checked that the X server detects your tablet as an extended input device? Have you tried the xinput test application?

Wacom support in GIMP RC3

I'm successfully running Ubuntu 7.10 with a Graphire 3; The appropriate Device sections for the tablet were correctly specified after installation.
I had to uncomment the following lines in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to fully enable the tablet:

InputDevice "stylus" "SendCoreEvents" InputDevice "cursor" "SendCoreEvents" InputDevice "eraser" "SendCoreEvents"

Otherwise it would just operate like a mouse.
