Google Summer of Code 2007

Hi there,

this year's Summer of Code has just been announced by Google: http://code.google.com/soc/

Last year, six of our projects have been completed: http://code.google.com/soc/gimp/about.html

Not all of them are widely known yet, some of them still contain issues, but overall they have been successful.

So, what about this year? Do we want to participate again? Are there any important things that have to be discussed? Anyone who is interested in mentoring or coding?

The deadline for organization applications is March 12: http://code.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=60325

HTH, Michael

Update: I have been^w volunteered as organization admin.

I have started to update http://wiki.gimp.org/gimp/SummerOfCode and moved the six 2006 projects into a new section. Some of the others may have to be reevaluated, too.

After a quick glance into the FAQ at http://code.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?topic=10442, there's not much that has been changed. I'll read it more closely this weekend.
