Even though I am a windows user, I have a lubuntu OS on a laptop and I tried to install the help there. After quite a few error message that I found solutions for by reading through forums, I finally got to one that I cant fix: ...
checking for GIMP... no
configure: error:
** Couldn't find a GIMP-2.0 installation. If you want to skip this check and ** install the help files to the configured prefix, use the --without-gimp ** configure option. Note that GIMP will then only find the help files if it ** is installed in the same prefix. See the file 'INSTALL' for more help. I read on a forum that I need to install the help package or the developer version of gimp, but I dont know how to do either... :(  Please advise what can I do next.Thanks a lot. __________________________

Hi,

the automatic builds for the gimp-help-2 branches are now serving the online help for GIMP 2.8.x and GIMP 2.9.x, respectively:

  gimp-help-2-8   https://docs.gimp.org/2.8/

  (https://docs.gimp.org/ are file-system links into there)

and

  master   https://docs.gimp.org/2.9/

This means that from now on, anyone using the online help in GIMP 2.8.x and GIMP 2.9.x will receive up-to-date help that has been built from the corresponding branches, according to the following schedule:

- gimp-help-2-8 is set up to build daily at 03:00 - master is set up to rebuild hourly at minute 23
