Installing Gimp on windows xp

Installed but brushes were causing it to crash during 1st launch. Should we be using an older version of Gimp? Thank you in advance

An older version of GIMP might be the way to go.

Assuming you don't want to move off of an old and unsupported OS?

2.8.18 should still work on XP. Note that you need a CPU with SSE3 support (this means some Pentiums 4 and Athlons64 won't work) due to a problem with compilation environment (this should be solved in the next release.
