Stop this thread! (was: Save/export, option to go back to old behaviour)

This discussion is connected to the gimp-developer-list.gnome.org mailing list which is provided by the GIMP developers and not related to gimpusers.com.

This is a read-only list on gimpusers.com so this discussion thread is read-only, too.

You can all stop wasting your time arguing.

We did this change for a reason, and we will not revert it nor will we make the behavior configurable.

I have not read any of the mails on this thread, and I will not reply to any response to this mail.

Hi!

Now, that's exactly a Communist way.

It's a pragmatic response.

The development team size (I'm not among them) is such that they need to do their own thing. They've done a lot of work to reach this decision and think that as their vision is realized it will become recognized as clearly the correct move.

As I see it, you've all got three options: live with it, branch GIMP and do things your own way, or develop an alternative to GIMP.

Last year I spent a few weeks (really! 120+ hours) studying the code, and to say the least, there's a ton of it and it's all complicated.

Good luck with your choices. Pete

Egor, if you spend a little time reading gimp mailing archives, you will see that topic was discussed to death so many times with the same treads of dozens mails, that starting it again can be considered impolite towards developers. The time they spend answering the same question for passionate users is the time lost for development.

With respect, Alexander Rabtchevich

Well Egor, you didn't even that that correct. It is not communistic, its totalitarian and rightly so. But *you* can change that by contributing, becomming one with a *right* to have a say.

These developers are spending countless hours developing a product for us to use, and for the most part, for free. It is very kind of them to even consider the user's opinion to begin with, but harassing them about a decision that has been long made is a definitely a slap in the face. It's not "communistic", or "totalitarian..." it's their product, and you can either use it or not... and you certainly have the "capitalistic" choice of forking the software, or spending $$$ on a completely different product if you like.

It's not "communistic", or "totalitarian...

Oh, btw, something in regard to all these "the devs are foo/bar/baz"- messages:

Accusing the GIMP developers of being anything will only achieve the following:

- increase their popcorn consumption - make future LGMs much more enjoyable ("do you remember that mail thread? *smirk* *snort*) - cause them to spontaneously hug you and sprinkle you with fairy dust, should they ever meet you in person

Regards, Michael
