Will be the Cage based transform included in the next Gimp release?

Will be the Cage based transform included in the next Gimp release?

Hello,

I just discover the nice Cage based transform tool in this place:

http://www.gimpusers.com/news/00333-first-look-at-the-cage-based-transform-tool

Will be it included in the next Gimp release?

Thanks! Salu2 de jEsuSdA 8)

Hello

Does the tool affect the points outside the cage? If no, it cannot replace i-warp plug-in functionally.

It would be nice, if the tool had an option "deform pixels outside the cage" with the same behavior and settings like i-warp plugin outside the cage. And it could share some code with the future i-warp tool which does not have control closed region.

With respect, Alexander Rabtchevich

Hello,

The cage tool is based on the Green coordinates ( http://www.math.tau.ac.il/~lipmanya/GC/gc.htm). These coordinates are not defined outside the cage, so the cage tool wont be able to affect point outside the cage. There is a mathematical possibility to expand the cage trough one edge of the cage, but i think that the way it would work isn't relevant for the gimp use case.

However, the cage tool already implement almost half of a future iwarp tool. Most of the deformation backend can be reused as is, and the deformation logic of the cage tool can be adapted to code an iwarp tool.

Best regards,

Michael Muré
