bugzilla or here?

This discussion is connected to the gimp-docs-list.gnome.org mailing list which is provided by the GIMP developers and not related to gimpusers.com.

This is a read-only list on gimpusers.com so this discussion thread is read-only, too.

bugzilla or here?

Hello.

Some description on this help are not reproduceable actually by the GIMP application. I want to tell them for this team, because they seem to be obsolete features.

Which should I send this report, to this mailing list or to the Bugzilla? http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?product=GIMP-manual

Hi,

As there may be some discussion about your changes, this list is the best, IMO.

bugzilla or here?

Hi,
here is a list for amendment which I noticed.
----------
Layer masks can be added to a layer without any alpha channel. When the layer mask is applied, the layer gets its own alpha channnel. It can be seen at the Layers dialog: the font face of the layer name becomes bold to normal.

dialogs/layer-mask.xml To create a layer mask start with a right click on the layer to call the context menu and select Add layer mask - in the menu. If the menu item is grayed first select - Add Alpha channel in the same menu. A dialog + in the menu. A dialog
appears where you can initialize the content of the mask:

menus/layer/mask-add.xml The Add Layer Mask command adds a layer mask to the active layer. It displays a dialog in which you can set the initial properties of the mask. If the layer already has a layer mask, - or if it cannot have one because it does not have an alpha channel, the - menu entry is insensitive and grayed out. + the menu entry is insensitive and grayed out.

menus/layer/mask-add.xml
The Apply Layer Mask command merges the layer mask with the current layer. The transparency information in the layer mask is transferred to the alpha channel and the layer mask is - removed. If the active layer does not have a layer mask, the menu entry + removed. Then the layer get its own alpha channel in case it does not + exist. If the active layer does not have a layer mask, the menu entry is insensitive and grayed out. See the Layer Masks

Would it be possible:

* put the patch on a webserver somewhere on the net or, * create a new bug against the GIMP-manual on bugzilla.gnome.org and attach your patch on it, or
* send your patch to one of our authors.

Extracting the diff out of the mail is quite unreliable.
