Foreign sorting glossary
I'm working on the glossary.po at the moment.
Is there any way to sort the keywords in the glossary in another order
than in the source?
As for now it is annoying finding the keywords in the "wrong" order, for
example the Norwegian word "kanal" under "c" as that's the place for the
English "channel".
If not, perhaps marking the keywords with a special tag and write a
program that does the job when making the xml files?

Hi Kolbjoern,
I don't see the problem.
In french, I have, for instance, in glossary.po, "Plugins" translated to "Greffons". In the glossary html file I get 'Greffons' at the right place, between GNU and Guides...

Well, not for me.
Norwegian: "Antialiasing" becomes "Kantutjamning".
In the glossary html file I get (for "no"): "Alfakanal" (alpha
channel); "Kantutjamning"; Beziérkurve (Beziér curves) ...
Perhaps something to do with the problem I have with not getting the
"Norwegian" images?
Have not tried making html for other languages than Norwegian. Perhaps I
should?

Hi,
I built html-no: "Kantutjamning" is between "Kanalmaskene" and "Laga", "Mjuke Kantar".
But there are a lot of problems in this file, due to the xml to po migration. Probably your problem will be resolved when these problems are fixed.
Yes, you can can build html for fr for example to see whether "greffon" is at the right place on your system.

So, it works on your system. This should mean that there is something wrong with my Cygwin or my computer. As told before, I'm not able to built html files with references to the "no" images. Perhaps two pieces of the same cake? Still a lot to do ;-)

Yes, the po files are not updated since the days of xml, January/February or so. I have rewritten the glossary.po to correct the errors. But alas there is no sorting at all.

I'll be a little busy with other works the rest of today, but think I'll
be able to give it a try tomorrow.
Thank you, Julien

I've added the "glossary.sort" parameter to stylesheets/plainhtml.xsl.in a few weeks ago, and it works fine for me (German) too.
It may be, however, that this is a new parameter and not yet supported
by your docbook-xsl version (my version is 1.74.0).
Check e.g.
/path/to/your/docbook/stylesheets/.../xhtml/glossary.xsl
if there is a string "glossary.sort".

I just *had* to try it this evening.
Yes, my copy was too old, without the "glossary.sort" (but it is the
newest in the Cygwin list! )
Downloaded and installed a newer copy and it works fine. All norwegian
words in correct alphabetic order.
Thanks Ude :-)
(In the hurry I downloaded a "0" version (1.75.0), and obviously did
something wrong when installing it as I got some error messages during
the make process. But that have to wait until tomorrow. Tonight I
celebrate.)
From a happy
Kolbjoern

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/HOWTO-INDEX/os.html may give you a hint what you can do (e.g. search for "Linux+Win"). ;-)
