image types

I'm trying to compile the release GIMP (1.2.3). Why would "XCF (GIMP)" be the only supported file type? Even PNG files are no recognized.

It sounds like the configure script couldn't find any of the libraries to support other image types. Do you have libjpeg, libpng, etc., installed?

What platform are you building on?

I found the problem, thanks for the quick reply. I didn't have the plug-ins directory set correctly.

What platform are you building on?

Gentoo Linux.
