using gimp on Pavilion XF2510 screen in tablet mode

Does anybody have experience with the HP Pavilion notebooks (like XF1420 - XF2520) whose screen can apparently operate as a tablet?

I'm thinking of buying one for the purpose.

I don't have a HP tablet pc myself but one made by Acer. I'm guessing the tablet component of the HP will be the same as this one: a Wacom serial device, at least all the tablet pcs I've looked at contained this.

Thanks, Simon. That's very helpful. I'll be using Linux FWIW; so the Acer suggestion makes sense as well.
