Create Colored Slate

I need to create a texture just like the gray slate that comes as a pattern in gimp. However, I need to create it in a few different colors. All of the tuts I've found online only show how to make a black/white or rainbow texture.

Can anyone point me in to a tutorial that can show me how to specify the color of the slate pattern (or create my own)?

Create Colored Slate

1) Right click on the "Slate" pattern and choose "Open pattern as Image" 2) Change the image to RGB - From the image menu: Image > Mode > RGB 3) Change the color - From the image menu: Colors > Colorize... 4) Save as a different pattern...
