Why .. . Why, I ask you, on this Green Earth was the ALT Key revoked of it's power?

I used to zoom around the editor, modifying my selections with the stroke of a key, but now .. . I feel like 3+ years of experience had been undone, and now I am back to square one .. .

Yes, I may be exaggerating a little bit, but please bring back the ALT functionality for rectangular and oval selection tools!!! For now, I am going back to GIMP 2.2.

You might want to explain us what exactly you were using the Alt key for and why you can't do this easily any longer. And please stop shouting.
