Vector or line based file format

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know of any good open file format that is saved as line data?

Hopefully something that can be used across different programs out there.

Is there such a thing? I'm on a small project looking to outsource some graphics (we already have the artists picked out) but our game uses line data only so finding a good way for artists to make us art is a challenge (:

Thanks for any info! Alan

Oops. what you need is a file format, not a program. sorry.

for file format, SVG is a good choice. for more information, see http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/

most of vector editors are supports this format. so you can read/write a SVG format files using many different programs.

yes, that is the way to go. Regarding the format, inkscape uses SVG which is a vector drawing format specified by w3c as a standard and is supported by various programs, including natively in firefox. Besides that, tehre are Free libraris to read and manipualte SVG you can use straight inside your game.
