Plug-in's at registry.gimp.org

Hi Gimp-user,

I'm interested in a plug-in greycstoration, at http://registry.gimp.org/list?description=grey.

There appears to be two different ones, but one says it is "official and supported".

Are plug-in's that are accepted as part of GIMP standard install, removed from the registry?

When you install a plug-in, how do you know where it will end up on the menu, other than to look at the code? And if you look at the code, do you take the opportunity to relocate the plug-in to a location that makes sense to you for usability and management?

It would be nice if the registry database was like FireFox add-in's, where Gimp could query if there has been an update to an add-in that you have installed.

Thank you.

GREYCstoration shows up in Filters>Enhance. As far as I know, you can't control where plugins show up (tho if you are a programmer??) I have heard that you can change the location of where scripts show up.

As for where to get it, I got mine from:

http://www.greyc.ensicaen.fr/~dtschump/greycstoration/

..Which doesn't seem to be the same page that is linked for the homepage as listed in the Plugin Registry.

As for installation, it goes in your plugins folder. Some of them have an installer, some of them are just a binary that you have to place in the correct folder. I'd give you a path, but I run the portable version of Gimp at work and at home I use Linux. It's something like gimp\app\lib\2.0\plugins or something similar.

Not sure but latest that you can download from here http://www.greyc.ensicaen.fr/%7Edtschump/greycstoration/data/GREYCstoration-2.5.2.1.zip is the best while other is outdated and deprecated from his authors --------------------------------------------------------------------------
