letter spacing tool missing?

Inside the text tool, the "letter spacing" setting is missing after I re-installed.

I'm using 2.2.12 on Gentoo

Letter spacing is not available in 2.2. Some distros seem to have backported the feature from the 2.3 tree, but it's not in the official sources.
