High Dynamic Range (HDR) Images

Hi,

Is it currently possible to make HDR images using The Gimp? If yes, how is it done? Are there scripts available to make the process easy/ier? --

No, the Gimp currently only processes 8 bit/channel/pixel images.

Not yet, the Gimp doesn't support the necessary floating-point data types.

You can assemble HDR images from bracketed photos using pfscalibration and apply tone-mapping operators with pfstmo and/or qpfstmo. Alternatively cinepaint has a plugin for assembling HDR images from bracketed photos.

I stumbled on that page today (linked in the comments of LWN article on HDR):

http://madprime.org/articles/2006/08/06/hdr-photos

It is an example of HDR with Gimp.

Best regards,

Olivier
