convert images via fu-script?

Hello folks.
I'm a new gimp user and have some wonderings: I need to convert a lot of images (.tif) to rgb-format with an extra channel for transparency. The transparency is based on thresholding by color(pixel)-value from the origial .tif images. Same for all images.

Is it possible to to this automatic via fu script? Has anyone done anything simular like this? Please help me!

use convert, it's part of the ImageMagick package.
