Carved wood effect on font

Carved wood effect on font
Every video I find to create a carved wood effect shows clicking on something that does NOT exist on my version. In the displace box, there's an X and Y value. Next to that, the videos show boxes where you can change the layer. Those boxes are NOT there on my version. Consequently it doesn't work. What do I do instead?
