Starting up GIMP in WIN 8.1

Hi folks,
I have just downloaded a version of GIMP to my laptop, for use in image manipulation. Where do I find the .exe file to open up the programme to use it, and create a shortcut on my desktop, as it does not appear to have created one that I can use........ ????? Sorry to be a complete numpty on this. Very kindest regards.
