I can't paint a white star.............

I've got my brush. A star. Can I figure out how to paint it white? Nope. I've spent around an hour scouring documents, videos, and banging my head against the wall.

The opacity is 100%. The foreground is white. I've tried dynamics off, dynamics simple dynamics here there and everywhere and still can't get a white star. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Gimp does not possess magical powers to change its own settings, only when they are reset by a resart perhaps.

Common reasons for the brush not painting.

1. There is selection active (could be as small as a pixel) and you are tying to paint outside it.

2. The active layer is small and you are trying to paint outside it.

3. Trying to paint on transparency with the alpha-lock on.

Other problems I've encountered include: * Trying to paint on the wrong layer (sometimes even when the layer is not visible).
* Trying to paint when quick mask is selected. * Trying to paint on a layer when a channel has been selected.
