Slow performance of GIMP with OS X Version 10.11.6

Hi,

With my new Mac the performance is much worse than with my old (and defect) Windows 7 PC, soo slowly! Can any one explain this?

We need to know more detail about your Mac and OS. What processor, how much RAM, size of hard drive or SSD, etc. Also what version of GIMP are you running, with what add ons?

Yep, same here on my relatively new iMac running OS X 10.11.6 and GIMP 2.8.18. My issue is mostly with redraw speed of the preview following any editing change. I tried all sorts of techniques to try and speed things up--like changing file cache size, etc--all to no avail. My understanding is that these speed hits are a very common thing with GIMP 2.8 on Mac. I'd be very interested to hear details, if you're successful in speeding things up.

Btw, I've read that Partha's (www.partha.com) 2.9 build may not have this issue, though I haven't tried it myself, and that 2.10 when it arrives should resolve this....hopefully.
