Downloaded 2.8.16 & no shortcut was created on desktop. Don't know how to launch?

Downloaded 2.8.16 & no shortcut was created on desktop. Don't know how to launch?

Hi. Brand new GIMP user. Unfortunately, the shortcut to desktop was missed. Don't know how to create the shortcut to launch GIMP. Please help with simple instructions. Windows explorer has so many GIMP folders, that I can't figure it out.Also, would like shortcut for the GIMP doc that I downloaded.Thanks a zillion. Please do not use this email address for any other purpose.

Hi. Brand new GIMP user. Unfortunately, the shortcut to desktop was missed. Don't know how to create the shortcut to launch GIMP. Please help with simple instructions. "C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin\gimp-2.8.exe" works for me - but it would depend on where you installed GIMP

You have to locate the actual GIMP application. If I recall my Windows days correctly, right clicking or Control-clicking on the application should bring up a menu which has a "make shortcut" item, or similarly named. Then just drag the shortcut to your desktop.

Same procedure for the GIMP doc.
