Raw plugin, built-in

Any plans to include a Raw file loader plugin. Something like Paint Shop Pro's .raw loader - enter X,Y,depth,colour etc. At the moment I use ImageMagick's raw reader, but it would be nice to just have a loader in Gimp.
I know there are plugins available, but us mortal users have a difficult time hunting dependencies and compiling.
