Version Question

My version of GIMP says 2.8.6. Downloaded from the GIMP site. Is this newer or older than 2.8.14? Did I get a beta version?

After some research, I realized that, oddly enough, version 2.8.6is older than 2.8.14, so I just downloaded and installed 2.8.14.

The dots are not decimal dots, there are just separators between the version, release, and level number. So Gimp Version 2, release 8, level 14 is indeed more recent than Gimp Version 2, release 8, level 6.

Thank you so much. That makes total sense. It's a relief to know I did the right thing!
