Restoring Sans As Default Font In GIMP

I mainly use GIMP to create or alter memes for Facebook. The default font for text in 2.8 is Sans, just as in previous versions. However the type is not Sans, but something similar to Courier (old typewriter type). Is there some way to correct this fault and restore Sans as the actual font?

That should be pretty easy - just make sure to save your Tool Options so they load that way the next time you start GIMP. (You can find the option under GIMP's Preferences.)

If you are using GIMP on the Windows platform, then that was a known problem with some of the recent installers (for the technically inclined: an absolute path in the fontconfig configuration, where a relative suffices).

This is fixed in the 2.8.10 installer.
