integrity of distorted images

Hi Gimp Folk,

Just started to explore gimp. Have an application for distortion effects, but need to know the following. If I create a square (jpeg) that is exactly 50% black and 50% white and then distort the image using, for example 'i warp' or 'whirl & pinch', will the colour proportions of the resultant image still be exactly 50/50?

Hoping some tech minded person can confirm and explain this ??

Best regards

Why don't you try yourself? Use the Histogram dialog to check the result (I'm pretty sure the ratio is not kept)?

G'day Ofnuts !

Thanks for the tip - you're right, according to the histogram the ratios do alter a bit but using this tool I should be able to balance them as required - you're a champ!
