One more question if you dont mind. If I have a problem when trying to scale my image. I put all the images into a folder so that I can resize them all together. When I do that I see the yellow box on one of the layers not change size (it stays smaller than the image) and then the rest of the layers you cant even see the dotted yellow line (which I am assuming is symbolizing the canvas right?). How do I go about getting them to all size out the same so I can print them as PDFs to my desktop? Also, What is a mask used for? Thanks for your help it is much appreciated. More on topic, I'm not sure you even have your terminology straight and that makes it impossible for us to know for sure what you're trying to do. If by "folder" you mean a folder icon in the Layers dialog, that is known as a "layer group" and the individual "images" in it are layers. Layer groups have a blue outline instead of yellow, however layer groups do not have a fixed size -- their size is derived automatically from the size and placement of the layers inside them.

Note that the image canvas doesn't have an outline at all, only layers do. Yellow for individual layers, blue for layer groups.

Now yes, you can import several images into GIMP (each into a separate layer) and then scale all of them uniformly by going to Image > Resize... . To export them back out as individual images, you need to make sure that only one layer is visible at a time (e.g. Shift+click the eye icon next to the layer's entry in its list; this will hide all other layers) then use the "Export to..." command to output the desired image. Repeat this with each layer.
