color problems

color problems

i recently started using GIMP and i made afew stencils with pretty decent success. i started making my 3rd stencil and when i go to fill the image with a dark color, it fills with dark gray instead of dark green, and the light color wont fill at all. does anybody have any ideas? =

Like "Image > Mode" being set to Greyscale?
