Problems opening GIMP

Hi. I have been having problems with opening GIMP. This first started about 3 weeks ago and it wasn't until last week that I wasn't able to open it at all. I uninstalled and then reinstalled it. It was working fine until tonight when I tried opening it and got the following message:

GNU Image Manipulation has stopped working.

A problem caused the program to stop working properly. Windows is checking...blah, blah, blah...

I'd really hate to have to uninstall it again and then have to redo all the plug-ins, and other scripts AGAIN.

Is anyone else experiencing this???
