color accent

Hi I am new to GIMP and I am trying to do a color accent. I read the instructions, did it step by step, but it did not work! Can someone help me? I have a few pics that I really want to work with. I am using Gimp 2 (2.6). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you mean you want for example an e-acute in which the e is in a different colour from the acute accent? If so, use two text layers, the top one in the colour for the base letter, and only having the base letter, the lower layer having the full in the accent colour.

Or do you mean colour accent as in highlight colour, e.g. in decorating? Use the colour chooser...

Or colours that talk as if they came from Scotland? :-)

Or something else?
