1 - Whenever I start GIMP I get the following Problem Report: "file-pdf-load cannot be opened because of a problem." (Note that GIMP itself loads and runs, it's just this plugin "/Applications/GIMP.app/Contents/Resources/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/file-pdf-load" that fails.)

I'm seeing what sounds like the same problem. I don't know why it's happening, but I do have some additional information.

In addition to the "... because of a problem" message, I get

"Check with the developer to make sure file-pdf-load works with this version of OS X."

I'm running OS X 10.8.1.

I have a crash dump if that's of use to anyone.

After looking at the crash dump, it appears file-pdf-load can't find

libpoppler-glib.8.dylib

That file isn't anywhere on my disk.

And it has been fixed with the latest dmg (version gimp-2.8.2-dmg-2) which can be downloaded from the gimp website. http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

Thanks for the link. I didn't know before where GIMP bugs were supposed to be reported.

To anyone with the same problem, an updated download is now available at gimp.org that fixes the issue.

2 - How do you change the language? The release notes say: "A question that often arises is how to change the UI language in GIMP, which has traditionally been a bit cumbersome. Not any longer, it is now possible to change the language in Preferences." But, I don't find that option anywhere in the Preferences of 2.8.2.

I experience this same, nowhere a possiblity to change language.So used to working with english apps that finnish counterparts don´t serve well.

That's because the language selector has a compile-time dependency on iso-codes (see https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-isocodes/ for a short description), and this was absent from the current OSX builds.

IIRC it is supposed to become available in future packages.
