Text to Path problem

I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong. And I have been having a hard time finding a solution to it. I am trying to put a text to path. The path is a curve to follow the outline of a graphic. My problem is when i put the "Text to Path" the text doesn't show up at the beginning of the path. It starts partway through it and always cuts off the very end of the text.

I've played with font sizes and can get the entire phrase onto the path, but it still doesnt start at the beginning... more towards the end.

Sorry if this is confusing. If anyone could help me, or needs more information, please let me know!

Hi,

This is just a guess from an amateur, however, is it possible that either a) the layer into which you are putting the text is not large enough or b) there is a layer on top of the text which is obscuring part of the text?

I don't think that is the problem. I've tried it many times. I've even opened a blank document, drew an S curve path, typed in some text, clicked "text to path" and it still starts 1/3 to 1/2 of the way into the path.

I upgraded to the .12 version of Gimp and it seems to be working okay so far? It must have been a bug?

"I upgraded to the .12 version of Gimp and it seems to be working okay so far? It must have been a bug?"

Nevermind. It happened again. This is so frustrating!

Again, I don't know anything about this subject. However, I tried it and when I did "text TO path" nothing changed. But when I tried it again, but with "text ALONG path" it seemed to work well.

Try "text ALONG path"

The "beginning" of a path isn't always where you think it is (especially of the path is "closed"). Futhermore Gimp doesn't care much about the order of the strokes (or even their direction).

If have a set of pythonGimp scripts that could help diagnose your problem and may be even fix it:

Check path-dump (run with gimp-console on windows), delete-stroke and reverse-strokes:
