looking for a gimp web designer/ freelancer
This discussion is connected to the gimp-user-list.gnome.org mailing list which is provided by the GIMP developers and not related to gimpusers.com.
This is a read-only list on gimpusers.com so this discussion thread is read-only, too.

I could be of some help. I have 3 designs that I've been working on and they're almost complete. I could upload them for you to see if you would like. As for the price, I have yet to make a Pay Pal or similar account so I'll give you the design for free. All I require is that you keep a link to my website in the footer. My website is not yet up so I'll give you a link when it's finished.

Could you clarify what you're looking for?
I can't figure out if you want someone to design an entire (large?) website or create just a single graphic. Also, it looks like you want someone to create the site with only GIMP and no HTML/CSS, which makes no sense at all to me unless there's a revolutionary new way to build websites that I haven't heard about yet.

Hi there!
In re your query on the GIMP User list, I do make websites. I
prefer to use xhtml 1.0 strict and pure CSS layouts, grind my images
in the GIMP and Inkscape. I use Bluefish to edit code. I build
with search engine optimization in mind - which is not nearly as
hard as it sounds, but is a necessary part of any competent design
(and content development) process. I normally install Google
Analytics, always validate my code wth the W3C validator, and pay
due attention to usability for blind and low vision visitors.
You might take a look at some of the work I currently have up and
see what you think. My biggest problem seems to be getting clients
to actually contribute text and images to allow "approved" sites to
be finished.
http://pilobilus.net/ - This is
a "place holder" site I put up just to have something for curious
people to look at when they notice a strange domain name in my
e-mail address. It demonstrates a couple of tricks I like,
including the Suckerfish drop down menu and CSS image replacement.
You might like the GIMP "getting started" tutorial. The online
music page is in desperate need of an update, as several of the
"stations" I reviewed have since vanished from teh interwebs.
http://pilobilus.net/bip-demo/ - This is a client approved
page layout for a website that will probably never be built, because
the client has failed to produce pictures to illustrate their
products and text to describe them. It demonstrates a CSS rollover
menu effect and a Javascript image changer. One of these days I
will have to round off the corners of the main container with a
sprite, just for looks...
http://avptampabay.org/demo/
- This is a small site I built for a local org. The client was
enthusiastic but has never submitted text or images. It
demonstrates a "sliced table-less CSS layout," in that the drop
shadow around the content area spans three images. The design
includes an integrated Google Calendar that was supposed to be
maintained by the person who manages the org's scheduling. I think
the layout of the contact form is rather nice - pure CSS of course.
http://hillsboroughhope.org/
- This is a site I made for a local nonprofit org. It is in html
4.1 transitional with a table based layout because it was originally
supposed to be handed off to a HOPE employee for routine
maintenance; I wanted it to be as simple as possible to train this
person, so the code is consistent with "absolute beginner how-to"
docs. HOPE lost the employee before I could even start the
training, so now I maintain the thing myself. This is a "quick
& dirty" page design, the fanciest thing on it is an embedded
YouTube video.
So... take a peek, and if it looks like I might be able to do the
kinds of stuff you want done, let me know.
:o)
