Want to take photo , crop colored borders

I am using Ubuntu 11.04
I want to script GIMP to:
I want to take a photo using a Logitech C910 UVC compatible webcam. I am snapping shots of documents laying on a green background. I want to crop the green border ( shrink the photo to the size of the document. I want to save it a folder on a network file server. I want to name the file with the date and time.
