Image deletion

I am a newbie to Gimp and I am trying to find out how to completely,that is, FULLY delete am image in Gimp....even to the point that the name does not show up in File/Open Recently.

In the Open Recently popup, there is a link to "history". At the bottom of the history pop-up, the rightmost link has a "delete dangling entries" selection. This should work for you.
