Release timeline

Does anyone know if there's any kind of release timeline for Gimp.. like when 2.8 will come out or if 2.7 even will?

ouch... did you try the front page of the gimp.org web site?

3rd item down: Plans for 2.8 and beyond - 2011-01-11

2.7 is the development version of 2.8. That's the way Gimp has always been developed. The odd number is the development version that will become the final (even) number. 2.5 dev was released as 2.6 stable, 2.7 dev will become 2.8 stable, etc.
