hmmm.. is this the most commonly-asked question?

Probably in the 3.0 version range. I'd say 2 years at least.

(and believe me, I sympathize... I've had to resort to other tools because of this limitation)

I'd guess a nightly build will have this capability in 1 - 2.5 years

But no one knows, because we have not scheduled this work yet, we only know it is important and that we want it in the next stable release after 2.8
