Hi,
I clicked on the link for the gimp tutorials but I get a lot of advertising and the only useful looking link there about tutorials took me to page with lots of tuts but none whatsoever about Gimp!
What is happening?
Gerard.

I don't see http://www.gimp.org/links/#tuts pointing to such a website. What I do see is pointing to http://gimp-tutorials.net/ which is exactly what you need.

For some very simple, basic, tutorials designed for beginners: http://www.oneoffpressbooks.com/pages/gimp.htm
A lot of Photoshop tutorials are good for Gimp . . . because they are often just a little off, it makes you stop and think more about the process.

Hello Alexandre.
I believe I can confirm that, on at least one instance, the link to to gimp-tutorials.net produced the page the OP described. I suspect this is when the host where that site is located, cannot find the correct domain (page?) and replaces it with another one with related content.
Again - just a suspicion of mine - I guess this happens when gimp-tutorials.net temporarily (maintenance?) disappears. This policy seems to be popular with hosts who want to make the most of badly typed URLs and site outages.

Note how the correct link is gimp-tutorials (with a hyphen) and you write that you are looking at gimp.tutorials (with a dot).
Is there a link on gimp.org with a dot rather than a hyphen?
Or did you get the wrong site after typing it in?

When you go to Gimpusers.com you click useful links.
In the Gimp links you'll find "Gimp tutorials list:
gimpology
gimp-tutorials.net
gimp@pixel2life.com
gimp wisdomplug
Now when your mouse cursor hovers over gimp-tutorials.net
you see gimp.tutorials.net at the bottom of FF.
BUT THIS IS *NOT* THE RIGHT SITE!!!
It should read gimp-tutorials.net.
Either the gimp site was hacked or the web designer made a typo.
I hope you all now see what I mean.

Gimpusers.com is not part of the GIMP project - it is a third party site. See here for who you should be talking to: http://gimpusers.com/site/imprint
(it's mildly irritating that gimpusers.com has connected a forum to this mailing list, but that's another topic ;)

When I visit http://gimpusers.com/gimp/links there is that list you mention. In my case, "Gimp-Tutorials.net" does indeed go to http://gimp-tutorials.net/
So either that has very recently been fixed, or there is a problem elsewhere.

The link to gimp-tutorials.net was added 2008-11-07 and hasn't been changed since then.
